Preserving the Past for the Future

Honoring those who came before

Save the Graves is a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization dedicated to preserving and protecting El Dorado County’s pioneer cemeteries. The coalition is a project of the Arts and Culture El Dorado Arts Incubator program.

Save the Graves is made possible by generous support from individual donors, volunteers, El Dorado County Chamber of Commerce, and The Latrobe Fund.

Living History in your Own Backyard

2019 saw the inaugural Living History Cemetery Tour from Save the Graves. On October 26 local actors portrayed nine historical figures from the early days of El Dorado County.

The event took place at Placerville Union Cemetery and was made possible, not only by the generosity of donors and supporters but by the tireless efforts of many volunteers.
